Retired Teacher's Aide Dies At Age 87

Julia McSherry Anderson, age 87 of The Golden Living Center, Clifton Forge, Virginia, and formerly of Jefferson Street, Clifton Forge died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Golden Living Center.

She was born May 4, 1926 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to the late John Francis and Lucy Dill McSherry.

She was a retired teacher's aide, and worked in both the City of Clifton Forge and Alleghany Highlands Public Schools systems.

She was a member of Clifton Forge Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Johnny Oliver and Lucy Knighton; and two brothers, Tom McSherry and Elwood McSherry.

She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Owens and husband, Frank of Eagle Rock, and Cindy Higgins of Clifton Forge; a son, Jeffery L. Anderson of Mansfield, GA; a sister, Jean Smith of Covington; four grandchildren, Rusty Anderson, Bradley Anderson, Dustin Higgins, and Susan Keith; two great grandchildren, A. J. Keith and Morgan Keith; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family received friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge. Following the visitation, her body was cremated.

The Nicely Funeral Home handled arrangements.
