Obituary for Gwendolyn Gaines (Nonie) Tingler Gwendolyn Gaines (Nonie) Tingler
Alleghany County Native Was Co-Owner Of Kountry Korners

Gwendolyn Gaines (Nonie) Tingler, 80, died October 19, 2013 at the Woodlands Nursing Home.

Mrs. Tingler was born November 24, 1932, in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late Lonnie Gaines and Grace King Gaines.

She was also preceded in death by her husband Melvin "Monk" Tingler, and three brothers, Jerry Gaines, Audrey Gaines, and Sonny Gaines.

She retired as a tour guide and school bus aide in Roanoke.

She was also a former co-owner of the Kountry Korners.

Surviving are one sister, Nelda Bowles and husband, Carl of Morganton, NC; one brother, Eddie Gaines of Covington, and a number of nieces and nephews, including Sara Hoke and husband, Jake of Covington, Ellen Fischer and husband, Scott of Clifton Forge, and Gregg Gaines of Vinton.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Tingler's name to Pinnell United Methodist Church.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday October 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. David Brown officiating.

Interment will be made at Lone Star Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday at Arritt Funeral Home from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.
