Evelyn Sale Carter, 86, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013.

Born in Amherst on May 30, 1927, she was daughter of the late Emmette L. Sale and Essie Coffey Sale.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William J. Carter Jr.

Mrs. Carter retired from Burlington Industries.

Surviving Evelyn are three daughters, Donna Mays, of Buena Vista, Diane Henson and husband, Mike, of Buena Vista, and Debbie Hawkins and husband, Eddie, of Glasgow; two sisters, Helen Lackey, of Madison Heights, and Virginia Lee Sale, of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home with the Rev. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the funeral home.
