Joseph Saunders Moore, 92, of Lexington, Virginia, died Saturday, November 2, 2013 at his home.

Born May 28, 1921 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Harry Etchsion Moore and Effie Carter Moore.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Marie Moore.

Mr. Moore was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Joseph retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of the Lauderdale ARP Church.

Surviving are his daughter, Carolyn Sue Nedrow Shiflett; two grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and four great great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Benjamin W. Dowling III and the Rev. Roy Swisher officiating. Burial will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lexington Life Saving Crew or Broad Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2013 at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
