David Stephen O_Connor, 73, of Buena Vista, Virginia, and formerly of Buchanan, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Madeline O'Connor.

David retired from CSX Railroad with 31 years of service and was a member of the American Legion Post #126 of Buena Vista, Buena Vista Fire Department Auxiliary, and Blue Ridge Hunt Club.

He served as a mechanic in the United States Army from 1962 to 1966.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Anna L. O'Connor; daughters and sons-in-law, Angella and David Walker, of Buena Vista, Shannon and Michael Hughes, of Robertsdale, Ala., and Bernadette and William Conner, of Buena Vista; grandchildren, Taylor Walker, Austin, Michaela, and Shaun Hughes, Amanda Smith and husband, Derrick; aunts, Genevieve Thrasher and Frances O'Connor; and special companion, Classy.

Funeral Services will be held at noon on Friday, November 22, 2013, in the chapel of Bolling, Grose and Lotts with the Pastor Jim Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at Bolling, Grose and Lotts Funeral Home, Buena Vista.
