Obituary for Norman Ray Bowen Norman Ray Bowen
Alleghany County Native Was Local Carpenter

Norman Ray Bowen, 57, of 9707 Rich Patch Road, Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.

He was born March 5, 1956 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Charles W. Bowen, Sr. and Marie Persinger Bowen.

Ray was a carpenter in the Alleghany Highlands for a number of years.

He was an avid outdoorsman and he enjoyed Nascar and loved cheering for his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon.

Surviving are two daughters, Amber Bowen of Roanoke and Natasha Bowen of Clifton Forge; two sons, Edward Lamb of Covington and Michael Dunbar; one brother, Charles Bowen, Jr. and his wife, Katherine of Covington; one sister, Brenda Ross and her husband, Jerry of Glen Wilton; four grandchildren, Jordan Loan and Hayden Willis, both of Clifton Forge; Taivon Nobles of Roanoke and Justin Dunbar, many special friends and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Arritt Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lisa Marshall officiating.

The interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

The family will receive their friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home on Saturday.
