Obituary for John Henry Wright John Henry Wright
Alleghany County Native Was Retired From The Covington Public Works Department

John Henry Wright, 69, of 9149 Mill Branch Road, Covington, Virginia, died Friday, January 17, 2014 at his residence.

He was born September 16, 1944 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Harry Fulton Wright and Ida Bess Wright Aruthur.

Mr. Wright retired in 2006 from City of Covington Public Works after 32 years of service.

He was a member of Pinnell Chapel United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Wright; two sisters, Mildred and Diane, and two brothers, Leonard and Curtis.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Juanita Harris "Pete" Wright of Covington; two sons, Terry wright of Jacksonville, FL and Randy Wright and his wife, Deborah of Upper Marlboro, MD ; a daughter, Sandra Goad of Bedford; seven grandchildren, Jason, Curtis, Kelly, Kyleigh, Crystal, Emily, Elizabeth, and two great grandsons; four brothers, David Wright and his wife of New Castle, Marvin P. Wright of Covington; Harry F. Wright, Jr. of Romney, WV and Calvin Wright of Rocky Mount; seven sisters, Nellie Campbell and her husband, Robert of Covington; Thelma Dotson and her husband, Lee, and Violet Jeffries and her husband, Jerry, both of Clifton Forge; Linda Clarkson of Warm Springs; Barbara Tingler; Mable Mann and her husband, Wayne; Carol Hallet and her husband, James, all of Covington; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014 in the Bess Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating.

Pallbearers will be Marvin Wright, Hubert Dressler, Allen Harris, Gene Harris, Robert Keith, Bill Litton, Rodney Harris and Wesley Keith.

The family suggests that memorial donations may be made to Mountain Regional Hospice, P. O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.

The family will receive their friends any time at the residence at 9149 Mill Branch Road, Covington, VA 24426.
