Obituary for Vance Elmer Davis Vance Elmer Davis
Air Force, Army Veteran, Was Mississippi Native

Vance Elmer Davis, age 79, of Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Monday, February 3, 2014 at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany, Low Moor.

He was born January 27, 1935 in Tylerton, Mississippi, to the late Susan Davis.

He served four years in the United States Air Force and ten years in the United States Army.

He was a mail handler for the United States Postal Service, and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and the Curtis A. Smith VFW Post 1033.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Hilda Faye Exum Davis of Clifton Forge; two sons, Gary Davis of Verona and Perry Davis and wife, Lori of Siler City, North Carolina; a sister, Alice Faye Brock and husband, George of Mobile, AL; five grandchildren, James Davis, Michelle Davis, Garrett Davis, Alexis Davis and Makenna Davis.

In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Dan Purdom officiating. There will be no formal visitation.

The Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is handling arrangements.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Epworth United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 190, Selma, VA 24474.
