Bessie Davis Tyree, formerly of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away February 4, 2014.

She was married for 51 years to Nelson Tyree, before his death in 2000. They had four children, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Born October 12, 1922, she was the second daughter of 11 of the late Mora and Grace Davis of Rockbridge Baths.

She was preceded in death by one great granddaughter, Heather Ashley; and five sisters, Katherine Parker, Mamie Garnett, Marie Chaplin, Lucy Clark and Ruby Conner.

She will be sadly missed by her children: Nelson Wayne Tyree and daughter, Afton of Richmond; Myra and Steve Finch and family, Michael and Margie and their children Mikyala, and Colten of Mechanicsville; Sharon Tyree and family, Indy and Joe, and their children Raegan, Peyton, and Blake of Madison Heights; Karen Tyree and John Mitchell of Palmdale, California.

She is also survived by beloved sisters and brothers-in-law, Natalie and Douglas Garnett of Chesterfield, Pearl and Charles Richie of Waynesboro; Edna and Wendell McDaniel of Melbourne, Fla., Dolly Tyler of Richmond, Betty Jean Davis and Bertie Hall of Lexington, Carl Clark of Buena Vista, and Roy Conner of Richmond, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts by the Pastor Glynn Coleman and she will be laid to rest beside her husband at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.
