Obituary for Thomas Steward (Tommy) Tyree Thomas Steward (Tommy) Tyree
Retired Technical Assist For Dominion Power Was Clifton Forge Baptist Church Member

Thomas Steward (Tommy) Tyree, age 72, of 1302 Hamilton Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Saturday, March 22, 2014 at LewisGale Hospital - Alleghany, Low Moor.

Tommy was born March 3, 1942 in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late William Henry and Marguerite Tucker Tyree.

He was a retired technical assistant for Dominion Virginia Power and a member of Clifton Forge Baptist Church.

He was the last surviving member of the Running Spring Hunt Club, a former member and past President of the Clifton Forge Jaycees, a member of the Clifton Forge Masonic Lodge # 166 A.F. & AM., the Kazim Temple of Roanoke, the Clifton Forge Shrine Club, past president of the Babe Ruth League Baseball Association, and former owner of Mountain Sports and Antiques.

He loved to spend time hunting and fishing at his camp on the Jackson River.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, and two brothers-in-law, Herbie King and Jim McCullough.

He is survived by his wife, Drema Pope Tyree of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Renee Bethel and husband, Jody of Clifton Forge and Karen Morgan of Stuarts Draft; two sisters, Jean King and husband, Ernie of Buena Vista and Sylvia McCullough of Lexington; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Howard and husband, Mike of Lewisburg, WV, and Shirley Edens and husband, James of Hines, WV; a brother-in-law, J.C. Pope and wife, Debbie of Alta, WV; four grandchildren, Lyndsay Bethel and fiancee Robbie Andrews, Hannah Bethel, Tommy Lee Morgan and Derek Morgan; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; special friends, Jabo Jones and Ralph Tyree; and faithful companions, Doodles, Binky and Puddin.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Grover Nicely and Reverend Nathan Smith officiating.

Following the service, his body was cremated. The family received friends on Monday evening at Nicely Funeral Home.
