U. S. Army Veteran Was Babe Ruth Baseball Coach, Former CSX Railroad Engineer

Paul Thomas Plecker, 74, of 2384 Mill Creek Road, Millboro, Virginia, died Monday, March 31, 2014 at his residence.

He was born May 19, 1939 in Millboro, Virginia, the son of the late Carl G. Plecker and Della Cauley Plecker.

Mr. Plecker was employed with CSX Railroad as an engineer with 32 years of service, retiring in September 2000.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War.

Mr. Plecker was a lifetime member of Windy Cove Presbyterian Church. He coached Babe Ruth Baseball for Millboro. He enjoyed bear hunting and deer hunting, loved basketball, camping, and NASCAR racing.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Coursey Plecker of Millboro, whom he married on December 4, 1961; two children, Missy Hobbs and friend, John Schaffer of Roanoke, Virginia, and Jill Ryder and friend, Jon Fountaine of Verona, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Tuesdy, Remy, Walker and Makenzi Ryder and Kayleigh, Lindsey, Brianna Hobbs; two brothers; Wilson G. "Buzz" Plecker and wife, Jeanette of Millboro and James Plecker and wife, Mavis of Millboro; two sisters; Gilma Hinton and husband, Charlie of Dayton, Virginia and Ruth Cauley of Millboro, Virginia; two former sons-in-law, Wade Ryder and John Hobbs; a brother-in-law, Leland Coursey, and a sister-in-law, Sandra Wilfong.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Hobson.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2014 at Windy Cove Presbyterian Church with Reverend Robert Sherrard officiating. Interment will be in Woodland Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 Ð 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the residence; and prior to the services from 12:00-1:30 p.m. Friday at the residence.
