Obituary for Wendell Romane Luckett Wendell Romane Luckett
Scrap Metal Collector Was Well-Known Millboro Area Resident

Wendell Romane Luckett, 73, of 6626 Cowpasture River Highway, Millboro, Virginia, died Friday, April 4, 2014 at his residence.

He was born at Nimrod, Millboro, on Feburary 4, 1941, a son of the late George and Annie Long Luckett.

Wendell enjoyed farming and worked for Talford Kemper, a Roanoke Lawyer.

He was a scrap metal collector and was always helping his farmer friends and other friends in the Millboro area.

He is survived by two sisters, Janet Robinson of Millboro and Jane Moss of New York; a brother, Walter Luckett of Millboro.

He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Wayne Luckett of Millboro; special niece, Keesha Robinson of Pineville, North Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Johnson Luckett; brothers, Woodrow, Wilkie and George McDonald Luckett; sisters, Eva Crockett, Maggie Jefferson, Josephine Green and Etta Stowe.

In keeping with his wishes, his body was cremated.

A graveside memorial service will be conducted Saturday, April 12, 2014 from the Luckett-Long Cemetery, Nimrod, Millboro at 1:00 p.m. with Elder David Talbert Officiating. Interment will follow.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Millboro Area Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 295, Millboro, Va. 24460.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge.
