Clifton Forge Baptist Church Member Worked With Farrar's Drug Store And Kmart

Mary Ellen Nicely Anderson, 78, of 1808 North Oakwood Drive Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Sunday May 4, 2014 at the Brian Center Healthcare in Low Moor.

She was born in Iron Gate on September 20, 1935, a daughter of the late John William and Tinia Brown Nicely.

She was a member of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church, worked for many years at the Farrar's Drug Store in Clifton Forge, and was a retired cashier and customer service representative from the Kmart Department Store in Covington.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Woodrow Anderson in May of 1996, a sister, Daratha Eversole, a brother, William Nicely, and a nephew, C. Kevin Aldridge.

She is survived by two sisters, Joyce "Peachie" Aldridge, of Iron Gate, Margaret Smith and husband, Louis, of Eagle Rock; two nieces, Kim Fix and husband, Todd, of Potts Creek; Sharon Coleman and husband, Clay, of Fincastle; five nephews: Richard Smith and wife, Lisa, of Salem, James "Peanut" Smith and wife, Laura, of Buchanan, David Eversole and wife, Holly, of New Hampshire, Kerry Eversole and wife, Cindy, of Minnesota, Andrew Eversole, of Florida, two great-nieces, Allison Aldridge, of Clifton Forge, Amy Coleman, of Fincastle; two great-nephews, Jonathon Aldridge, of Iron Gate, and Chandler Smith of Fincastle; and two special friends, Judy Humphries, and Anna Mae Meadows.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday from the Chapel of Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge with the Reverend J. Glenn Linthicum officiating assisted by Reverend Nathan Smith.

Interment will follow at Alleghany Memorial Park in Low Moor. Mary's nephews will serve as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Nicely Funeral Home and at other times at Mary's home 1808 North Oakwood Drive.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in her memory to the Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P. O. Box 637 Clifton Forge, Virginia 24422.
