Gala Native Was Living Stones Ministries Church Member, Avid Fisherwoman

Mildred Eilene Flenner Willis, age 86, of 307 Second Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Friday, June 13, 2014 at her residence.

She was born March 2, 1928 in Gala to the late Homer Ray and Effee A. Simmons Flenner.

She was a housekeeper for Liberty House Nursing Home/Golden Living Center.

She was a member of Living Stones Ministries Church at Griffith and loved to fish at Douthat.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Willis; a son, Frankie Willis; and six brothers, George Flenner, Lee Flenner, Charles Flenner, Jimmy Flenner, Frankie Flenner and Tommy Flenner.

She is survived by three daughters, Betty McCulley of Clifton Forge, Cathy Swisher and husband, Keith of Lexington, and Donna Jean Butler of Clifton Forge; a son, Russell Willis and wife, Parie of Baltimore, MD; two sisters, Marie Apple and husband, Kenny of Dowell, MD, and Dorothy Blythe and husband, Ralph of Chesapeake; a brother, Clayton R. Flenner and wife, Faye of Portsmouth; eleven grandchildren, Bonnie Butler, Tasso Butler, April Butler, Harold Butler, Chris Butler, Shelly Wingfield, Tracy Carpenter, Seth Swisher, Kelly Swisher, Russell Loan and Russell Willis; seven great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; special friends Bubby and Patty Hurst of Norfolk, Mickey Downey of Clifton Forge, and the rest of her her fishing buddies.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Pastor Mike Rollins officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
