Lee's Carpet Retiree Was Long Time Supporter Of Relay For Life Of Rockbridge

Dealia (Dee) Gannon Hunt passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 10, 2014.

She was born November 27, 1939 in Huntsville, Texas, to Nancy Mariah Weaver Gannon and Ervin Lewis Gannon.

After the death of her mother soon after her birth, her paternal grandmother, Tannie Lewis Gannon helped raise Dee and her siblings.

Dee graduated valedictorian from CE King High School in Houston, Texas.

She then attended Southwestern Business University in Houston, Texas before joining the United States Army Women's Army Corp (WAC). After honorably leaving the Army, Dee began her family and went to work at Lee's Carpets Glasgow, where she retired after 39 years.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents, her stepmother Winnie Currie Gannon, and her husband, Robert Wesley Hunt.

Dee is survived by her children, Joni Hunt Sheridan, of Sugar Hill, Ga, Senior Master Sergeant (Retired) Gerald (Jerry) Hunt and wife, Melissa, of Montpelier, and Cheryl Hunt, of Glasgow. Also, her grandchildren, Catherine and Olivia Sheridan of Sugar Hill, Ga, Margaret (Meg), Joshua (Josh), Emily, and Thomas (Tommy) Hunt, of Montpelier. Dee is also survived by her siblings, Gladys Dean Barbaree, of Kingwood, Texas, Ervia Leen McCullough and husband, Larry, of Lomita, Calif, and Gordon Gannon and wife, Melissa Kaye, of Houston, Texas, and a sister in law Bette Hunt Fitzgerald, of Buena Vista.

Dee was a long time supporter of Relay For Life of Rockbridge and a donation in her memory to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

A memorial service and celebration of her life is planned for a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington VA.
