Obituary for Linda F. (Cash) Doyle Schmick Linda F. (Cash) Doyle Schmick
Augusta County Native Was Broadcaster, Very Active In Her Church

Linda F. (Cash) Doyle Schmick, 72, widow of Albert C. Schmick of Old Providence Road, Raphine, Virginia, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014, at her residence.

Mrs. Schmick was born June 2, 1942, in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Aubrey Glendon and Lena (Fauver) Cash.

Linda was an active member of Old Providence A.R.P. Church. She served on the Christian Education Committee, the prayer chain, Bible school, the nursery, women's ministries and was responsible for the program at Beulah Land.

As a child, Linda dreamed of a career in broadcasting and was given the name of "Radio".

She graduated from Spottswood High School, Dunsmore Business School, and was employed by WAFC radio station in Staunton. She later left the area and worked at WSLS TV in Roanoke and went on to Atlanta, where she was a stockholder in an AM/FM radio station.

Upon returning to Augusta County with her husband Albert, they lived a well and fulfilled life. She never met a stranger and was always the first to step up where there was a need. Linda was very devoted to her family, friends, and church. The family will cherish the loving memories and will never forget her ever present smile. Anyone who knew her could not help but love her.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Schmick was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas Edward Doyle II; brother, Leon F. Cash; and a special brother-in-law, Raymond "Jimmy" Cash.

Survivors are a son, Thomas E. "Tom" Doyle III and wife, Mary Jane, of Raphine; a daughter, Tonya Leigh Doyle and partner, Windy Lawhorn, of Wichita Falls, Texas; two stepsons, Jeffrey and David Schmick and their wives; a brother, Aubrey G. Cash and wife, Mary, of Stuarts Draft; two sisters, Shirley L. Cash and husband, Buddy, and Thelma J. Cash, all of Steeles Tavern; sister-in-law, Glenna Cash, of Greenville; two granddaughters, Emma Fontaine Doyle and Morgan Bowman; special cousin who was thought of as a sister, Alice Holden and husband, Ed, of Spottswood; and numerous stepgrandchildren; special and adored nieces and nephews, Tammy Peeling and husband, Mitch, of Waynesboro, Leon Cash and wife, Tammy, of Greenville, Mike Cash and wife, Becky, of Fishersville, Glendon "Kessy" Cash and wife, Robin, of Greenville, Cindy Wenger and husband, H.L., of Harrisonburg, Alisa Cash, of Waynesboro; and several great-nieces and great-nephews; special friends, Carolyn Swecker, of Staunton, Elizabeth Earhart, of Spottswood, Judy Lallmang and Linda Notsinger, formerly of Smith Mountain Lake.

A celebration of life will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Old Providence A.R.P. Church by the Rev. H. Max Bolin and Pastor David Long. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service back at the church. Active pallbearers will be Mitch Peeling, Leon Cash, Mike Cash, Glendon Cash, Derek Wenger and Weston Cash.

It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to Old Providence A.P.R. Church Memorial Fund, 1005 Spottswood Road, Spottswood, VA 24476. The family would like to thank Dr. Rob Marsh, the Legacy Hospice and Home Health Care Advantage for the special care given to Mrs. Schmick.
