Rockbridge Native Loved Farming, Speaking Words Of Wisdom

Clarence Albert (Peanut) Thomas, 83, of Lexington, Virginia, died Saturday, June 28, 2014 at his home.

Born December 6, 1930 in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Walter William Thomas and Ethel Montgomery Thomas.

"Peanut" loved farming and the outdoors. He enjoyed riding through the country side, speaking words of wisdom, and swapping stories with his friends in the community.

Surviving are his wife, Pearl Irvine Thomas; two daughters, Dorothy "Dottie" Thomas; Brenda Thomas Crowder and husband, Joey; four grandchildren, Nathan Deacon, Seth Deacon and wife, Meagan; Zachary Crowder and wife, Laura; Jordan Crowder; two great-grandchildren, Sophia Deacon, Avery Deacon; one brother, Charles W. Thomas, all of Lexington; special caregiver, Pam Benton, of Raphine.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Martin Stokes officiating. Burial will follow at Collierstown Presbyterian Church Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in loving memory of Peanut to the Effinger Volunteer Fire Department, 2824 Collierstown Road, Lexington, VA 24450.
