Millboro Christian Church Deacon Worked With Hercules, CSX

Mr. John William (Johnny) Gordon, Jr. of Millboro Springs, Virginia, went home to be with his Savior on August 11, 2014.

He was born July 15, 1949 to parents, John W. Gordon and Juanita (Peggy) Gordon.

He grew up in the Parklin Heights area of Covington and worked for Hercules and the CSX Railroad.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.

He was married for forty-two years to wife, Linda Knight Gordon, and raised three children, Staci, John and Joe.

He loved God and was a deacon at Millboro Christian Church, was a friend to all and soldier of the cross.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughter and her husband, Staci and Rodney Martin of Covington; his son and his wife, John and Andrea Gordon of Covington, and his other son and his wife, Robert (Joe) and Holly Gordon.

He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Caleb, Hannah, Abigail and Joshua Martin, Laurel, Claudia, Landon and Tyler Gordon, Sydney and Brady Gordon; and sister-in-law, Barbara Davis and Gary of Sutton, WV.

He was preceded in death by father and mother, John W. Gordon and Juanita (Peggy) Gordon, aunt, Hazel K. Stitcher; and cousin, Pam Llewelyn.

Johnny was a loyal and loving husband and father and will be sincerely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He died holding his precious wife's hand.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Millboro Christian Church with Rev. Lloyd Via officiating.

Interment will follow in Millboro Christian Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Kelley, Steve Dotson, Lynn Wright, Jonathan Martin, Wendell Rowland, Justin Perdue, Michael McAllister and Danny Grimm.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hayslett, Pat Loving, Gary Davis, Ronald Martin, Roy Sheppard, Bill Mason, Andy Forbes and Jessee Simmons.
