Mary Louise Vass Johnson, age 72, of 858 Hayden Loop, Eagle Rock, Virginia, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at The Woodlands Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clifton Forge.

She was born April 19, 1942 in Northfork, Virginia, to the late Tom Lewis Vass and Bessie Shanks Vass.

She was a homemaker throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a cousin, Geraldine Coleman.

She is survived by her husband, Cromer Lee Johnson of Eagle Rock; two sons, John Slusser of England, UK and wife, Denise Slusser, and William Lewis Vass and wife, Shelly Vess Vass of Clifton Forge; a step son, Cromer Eldridge Johnson of Eagle Rock; a sister, Betty Pearl Cain of Harpers Ferry, WV; a brother, Carl J. Vass of Texas; three grandchildren; a great granddaughter; three cousins, Beverly Gross of Bedford, Brenda Millner of Staley, NC and Vera Hensley of Altavista; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Pastor Jessie Howard officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Flatwoods, VA.
