Mr. Michael Dale (Mike) Richmond, Sr., age 61, of Covington, Virginia, died Thursday, September 4, 2014.

. He was the husband of Terry Vest Richmond.

Mr. Richmond was born July 1, 1953 in Covington, the son of the late Arthur Harmon Richmond and Edith Brisendine Richmond.

A lifetime member of this community, he served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

Mike was employed as a team leader in the Power Department by MeadWestvaco.

Mr. Richmond was a former route driver for Tom Sales, Inc..

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing especially with his grandchildren.

A sports fan, Mike loved watching the Baltimore Orioles play baseball and the Green Bay Packers play football.

In addition to his wife, Terry, Mr. Richmond is survived by one son, Michael D. Richmond, Jr. of Covington; three daughters, Melanie O'Conner and husband, Brian of Covington, Mandy Whitmore and husband, Ronnie of Covington, and Molly Nicely and husband, Tony of Covington; six grandchildren, Tyler O'Conner, Seth Richmond, MyKaylah O'Conner, Kelsey Whitmore, Emma Nicely and James Nicely; a sister, Linda Richmond Walton of Crimora; a niece, Missy McVey; and a nephew, Chuck Wallace.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2014, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. William "Bill" Hartsfield officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Graveside rites will be conducted by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Pallbearers will be Michael Dale Richmond, Jr., Tyler O'Conner, Billy Rice, Jerry Rice, Stevie Rice, Jerry Rice, Jr., C. J. Entsminger, and Loren Brisendine.

Honorary pallbearer will be Darfow Rice.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.
