Rebecca (Becky) Ayres Johnson, 89, of Lexington, Virginia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Catawba Hospital, Catawba, VA.

Born November 14, 1924 in Lexington, she was a daughter of the late George Henry and Rose Buchanan Ayres.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert Allen Johnson; a sister, Ruth Ayres McCurdy; and an infant brother, George Henry Ayres, Jr.

Rebecca was faithful to her churches, Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church and Manly Memorial Baptist Church.

She had a 40-year career with Burlington Industries in Glasgow as a secretary.

Surviving is a sister, Margaret Ayres Vest, and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service at Timber Ridge ARP Cemetery will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2014 with Rev. David Shreve officiating.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Rebecca's memory to a charity of your choice.
