Mr. Hershel Delbert (Brig) Frye, age 88, of Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Frye was born October 30, 1926 in Alleghany County, the son of the late Marion Edward Frye and Loda Elizabeth Sheasley Frye.

A lifetime resident of this community, he was employed as a carpenter by M. K. Frye Contracting before his retirement.

Brig was also a gunsmith and enjoyed woodworking. He especially loved his dogs.

Mr. Frye is survived by his sister-in-law, Mildred C. Frye of Covington; a brother-in-law, Grayson Broce; nieces and nephews, Ronald Broce, Hale Broce, Gene Frye, Jennifer Unroe, Bob Varner and Wanda Broce; special friends, Bill Siple, Tuffy Bush and Linda and John Pound; and caretakers, Crystal Robertson, Tabitha Cook and Gloria Braxton.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Frye was preceded in death by a brother, Carl S. Frye, Edward E. Frye, Sr., Merlin K. "Mutt" Frye; and a sister, Hazel F. Broce.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
