David Owen Cox, 29, of Fairfield, Virginia, died Monday, December 22, 2014, at his home.

Born October 14, 1985, in Lexington, he was a son of Kenneth Lee Cox and Kelly Marie Snyder Cox.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Claude Owen Snyder and John David Cox Jr.

David was a member of the Bethseda Presbyterian Church and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving our country from 2004 to 2008.

David also loved to spend time on the river canoeing and fishing.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his special grandmothers, Sandra Darlene Snyder and Betty Smith Cox; one loving sister, Jennifer Cox Garrett; and brother-in-law, John; one loving nephew, William Kenneth Garrett; one loving niece, London Marie Garrett; loving uncle, Joseph Matthew Snyder; loving aunts, Jan Denise Cox, Patty Cox Maupin and husband, Vernon.

A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Christina Tutterow officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in loving memory of David to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
