Obituary for Loretta Noel Putnam Loretta Noel Putnam
Retired Medical Assistant Was Garden Club Member, Tri-County Clogger

Loretta Noel Putnam, age 81, of 4015 Forty-Two Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

She was born April 5, 1933 in Clifton Forge to the late Benjamin Harrison Noel and Eva Virginia Clark Noel.

She was a retired medical assistant for Jackson River Internists in Low Moor and attended Lone Star Advent Christian Church, where she sang in the church choir.

She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Twilight Garden Club. She loved clogging and was instrumental in starting the Tri-County Cloggers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Edward Putnam, Jr.; four sisters, Irene Bryan, Frances Mahaney, Marie Hayslett, and Margaret Unroe; and a brother, John Noel.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen Barr and husband, Derrick of Covington; a son, Eddie Putnam and wife, Genie of Covington; a sister, Nora Webb of Clifton Forge; three grandchildren, Blair Moore and husband, Chris of Charlottesville, Carol Staniar and husband, Drake of Washington D.C., and Aaron Barr and wife, Holly of Richmond; two great granddaughters, Ava Elizabeth Barr and Harper Ellis Barr; a special cousin, Ruth Gibson of Charlottesville; and a number of special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Doug Moore and Reverend Grover Nicely, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Stinespring, David Unroe, George McCulley, Joe Wood, Greg Vess, and Alan Dale Craft. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Unroe, Rodney Bryan, Olie Burnside, and Bryan Stinespring.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home.
