Obituary for Floyd Houston Goff Floyd Houston Goff
Westvaco Retiree Was U. S. Army World War II Veteran

Floyd Houston Goff, age 92, of 1004 Beverly Avenue, Covington, Virginia, died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Goff was born July 1, 1922 in Green Lea, Virginia, a son of the late Naomi Leighton and Levi Houston Goff.

He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II.

He retired on July 1, 1987 from Westvaco Corp. after 46 years of service.

He was a member of the American Legion and Curtis A. Smith VFW Post 1033, and a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Ernest James Sharp and Justin Timothy Goff; two brothers; and two sisters.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Helen McCoy Goff of Covington; his daughter, Anita Goff Sharp of Ronceverte, WV; three sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Norma Goff of Clifton Forge, Timothy and Betty Jo Goff of Haymarket, and David and Donna Goff of Covington; four grandchildren, Jacqueline Sharp Whitehead and husband, Gary, Bridgett Goff, Sara Goff and Kristin Goff; two great granddaughters, Courtney Whitehead and Autumn McCoy; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog "Sam".

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Dean Bowser and Reverend Bill Hartsfield officiating.

Interment will follow in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Botetourt County.

Pallbearers will be Richard Mansell, Larry Peters, Larry Terry, Andy Cash, Calvin Wayne Caldwell and Gary Whitehead.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Calvary Baptist Church, 113 N. Wills Ave., Covington, VA 24426.
