R. Reid Agnor, Jr.

He Served In World War II As A Pilot

R. Reid Agnor, Jr., 80, of Lexington, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004 in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born in Lexington on June 1, 1924, he was the son of the late R. Reid Agnor, Sr., and Mabel Steele Agnor. Mr. Agnor was a graduate of Washington & Lee University, and had served in World War II as a pilot with the 344th Bombardment Group in Europe. He had been president of Morrison & Agnor, Inc., in Lexington for over 40 years. He was past Worshipful Master of Mountain City Lodge #67, AF & AM, and also DDGM of the 20th Masonic District. Mr. Agnor was also member of Royal Arch Chapter #44 and Moomaw Commandery #27, and the Lexington Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, June Shriver Agnor.

Surviving are three children, Robert R. Agnor III, Lexington, David S. Agnor of Reynoldsburg, OH, and Megan Agnor Sen of Seattle, WA.; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2004 in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery with the Rev. Fred A. Arndt, officiating. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Rockbridge County SPCA, P. O. Box 528, Lexington, VA 24450 or the Lexington Lions Club. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
