Mrs. Betty Joyce Bush Peters, age 73, of Covington, Virginia,died Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at LewisGale Hospital, Salem VA.

She was the wife of John E. Peters.

Mrs. Peters was born on July 3, 1941 in Covington, the daughter of the late Violet Bush.

A lifetime resident of this community, she was employed by Food Lion with more than twenty years of service.

Joyce was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She enjoyed horseback riding, playing tennis and was an avid cat rescuer.

In addition to her husband of fifty-four years, Mrs. Peters is survived by two sons, Johnny L. Peters of Covington and Kenneth B. Peters and wife, Melinda of Roanoke; one granddaughter, Margaret Taylar Peters; and two grandsons, Joseph Blake Peters and Kristopher Blake Peters; and two sisters-in-law, Sue Potter and husband, Bill and Marian "Chucky" Gibson and husband, Gary.

In addition to her mother, Mrs. Peters was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Waddell.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
