Rockbridge County Native Dies At Age 85

Ruby Fainter Thompson went to be with the Lord on February 27, 2015, surrounded by her family.

Born December 17, 1929, in Rockbridge County, she was the daughter of the late John and Nellie Fainter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd A. Thompson; sisters, Ileta Rogers and Emily Franklin; a brother, Curtis Fainter.

Ruby graduated from Natural Bridge High School in 1948.

After over 30 years of service, she retired from Burlington Industries. Surviving are a son, Al Thompson and wife, Pam; a daughter, Bridget Marshall and husband, Ronnie; grandchildren, Sarah Boblett and husband, Josh and Molly Marshall; great-grandchildren, Birdie and Ruby Boblett; a sister, Bunny Slough; a brother, Fred Fainter; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015, at Glasgow Baptist Church. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
