Well-Known Boys' Home Employee Was Valley High School Coach, U. S. Navy Veteran

Mr. Olin Paul Siple, age 93, of Covington, Virginia, died Friday, March 13, 2015, at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany, Low Moor.

He was the husband of Mary Fairburn "Suzie" Siple.

Mr. Siple was born July 27, 1921, in Clifton Forge, the son of the late Olin Pinckey Siple and Minnie Argenbright Siple.

A member of this community since 1958, he served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy, stationed in the Pacific Theatre of Operations.

He taught, coached and served as principal of Valley High School for a number of years and retired from Boys' Home.

Paul was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry and as usher.

Mr. Siple was a member of Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a hunter safety instructor with the Virginia Game Commission for over fifty years.

Paul was a member of the Bridgewater College, Boys' Home and Bath County Halls of Fame.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Siple is survived by a daughter, Beverly S. Ellis and husband, Jim of Stuarts Draft; a daughter-in-law, Brenda H. Siple of Clifton Forge; three stepsons, Fred E. Pifer and wife, Sherrie, Thomas A. Pifer and wife, Anna, and Mark A. Pifer; four grandchildren, Sarah Ellis and husband, Joshua Solomon, Billy Siple, Lauren S. Bordens, and Leigh Ellis; one great granddaughter, Lillian M. Bordens; six step grandchildren; and eleven step great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Siple was preceded in death by a son, William Claude Siple on February 20, 2015 and a brother, Claude Bowers Siple in 2001.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church with Rev. Connie Gillman officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.
