Betty G. Humphries of Buena Vista, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on her 83rd birthday.

She was born on March 15, 1932, in Rockbridge County and passed away in Buena Vista on March 15, 2015.

She was a long standing member of the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Betty was a nurse's aide at Stonewall Jackson Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Grady Green and Katie McCullough Green of Rockbridge County.

She is survived by her loving husband and devoted caretaker of almost 63 years, Lawrence E. Humphries of Buena Vista; her son, Larry E. Humphries and wife, Tammi, of Roanoke, Va.; grandchildren, Joshua A. Humphries of Charlottesville, Va., Meaghan K. Garrison and husband, Steven, of Fishersville, Va., Ashley N. Avila and husband, Lt. Col. Michael Avila, of Springfield, Va., Lynsey L. Ferris and fiance, Robert Hillman, of Raleigh, N.C.; and great-grandchildren, Kenadie A. Garrison, Anna E. Garrison, and Oliver L. Avila. Also surviving Mrs. Humphries are numerous special cousins, family members, and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. W.A. Mills and the Rev. W. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Buena Vista Pentecostal Holiness Church Seniors for Christ Fund.
