Obituary for Carl Edward Linkenhoker, Sr. Carl Edward Linkenhoker, Sr.
Former Westvaco Machinist Was Virginia National Guard Veteran, Longtime Mason

Mr. Carl Edward Linkenhoker, Sr., age 77, of Covington, Virginia, died Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center, Mechanicsville.

He was the husband of the late Sandra Lane Linkenhoker.

Mr. Linkenhoker was born May 9, 1937 in Eagle Rock, the son of the late Thomas Edgar Linkenhoker, Sr. and Elsie Dillon Linkenhoker.

He served in the Virginia National Guard. Eddie was employed as a machinist by Westvaco.

He was a member of Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church.

Mr. Linkenhoker was a member of the Covington Masonic Lodge 171 AF&AM. Eddie was a member of the Sovereign Military Order of St. John of Jerusalem Knights of Malta and was a member and past president of the Scottish Foundation of Virginia Highlands.

Mr. Linkenhoker is survived by a son, Carl E. Linkenhoker, Jr. and wife, Amanda of Covington; a daughter, Joanna L. Barni and husband, Anthony of Mechanicsville; two grandsons, Jonathan Barni and Seth A. Reid; a granddaughter, Emma Grace Linkenhoker; four brothers, Curtis L. "Jess" Linkenhoker, Lewis A. Linkenhoker and wife, Janey, Ronald G. Linkenhoker and wife, Janet, and Gary W. Linkenhoker and wife, Nina; two sisters, Brenda M. Cartwright and Gay Megginson and husband, Eddie; a sister-in-law, Barbara Linkenhoker; three brothers-in-law, Earl D. "Butch" Lane and wife, Margie, Dean E. Lane and wife, Sandy, and Eddie Craig; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Linkenhoker was preceded in death by a sister, Linda L. Craig and two brothers, Donald E. Linkenhoker and Thomas E. Linkenhoker, Jr.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2015, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. James Rodden officiating. Interment will follow in Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church.

Masonic rites will be conducted by the Covington Masonic Lodge 171 AF & AM Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home and at the home of Carl and Amanda Linkenhoker, 405 Center Court, Covington. Arrangements are being handled by Loving Funeral Home; www.lovingfuneralhome1913.com.
