Obituary for Lloyd (Hop) Samuel Thackert Lloyd (Hop) Samuel Thacker
MTA Street Supervisor Was Bath County Native

Lloyd (Hop) Samuel Thacker, 81, of 515 Towles Road, Reva, Virginia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at his residence.

He was born August 17, 1933 in Bath County, Virginia, the son of the late Charles Hopkins Thacker and Emma Margaret Hodge Thacker.

He was married to the late Bonnie Lee Thacker, his wife of 34 years, who preceded him in death on September 17, 1991.

Mr. Thacker was a street supervisor for Metro Transit Authority in Washington, DC. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Warm Springs Hunt Club and Virginia Chapel United Methodist Church.

He loved hunting, fishing and the mountains of Hot Springs. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by three children, Bonnie Fay Medlin and husband, Chuck of Thaxton, Virginia, Lloyd Michael Thacker of Denver, Colorado and Allison Whittaker of Reva, Virginia; three sisters, Leona Altizer of Hot Springs, Virginia, Josephine Thacker of Wyandotte, Michigan, Helen Ruth Baldwin and husband, Ed of West Roxbury, Massachusetts; eleven grandchildren, Nicole Street, Jennifer Gray, Joshua Medlin, Joseph Medlin, Stephanie Richardson, Matthew Thacker, Chris Steagall, David Lee Rogers, Kristen Rogers, Amanda Whittaker and Kyle Whittaker; seven great grandchildren, Braydon, Ty, Lucas, Carter, Nate, Jordan and Bryson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 29, 2015 at McLaughlin & Young Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Lee Altizer officiating.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Medlin, Joseph Medlin, Kyle Whittaker, Matthew Thacker, Chris Steagall, Jordan Richardson and Bryson Richardson. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post 1033 Curtis A. Smith Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services from 2:00 Ð 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
