Mildred Geneva Reid Helmintoller, age 88, of 3615 Longdale Furnace Road, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Avante of Harrisonburg.

She was born December 4, 1926 in Clifton Forge, to the late Roy Kenneth Reid, Sr. and Martha Belton Reid.

She was a homemaker throughout her life and was a member of Walton Memorial United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed fishing. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Vernon Helmintoller in 1974, and five brothers, Luther Reid, Carl Reid, Virgil Reid, Sr., Ernest Reid, and Kenny Reid, Jr.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Broughman of Clifton Forge; a son, Vernon Wayne Helmintoller and wife, Carol of Harrisonburg; a sister, Ethel P. Aldridge of Iron Gate; three grandchildren, Todd Helmintoller and wife, Myra, Melanie Walton and husband, Alan, and Shannon Myers; eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes, her body has been cremated. A private graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor with Pastor Brad Lewis officiating.

There will be no visitation.
