Alleghany County Native Dies At Age 91

Mrs. Sue Jennings Farmer, age 88, of Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at the Woodlands, Clifton Forge.

She was the wife of the late Clarence Farmer.

Mrs. Farmer was born December 26, 1926 in Alleghany County, the daughter of the late James Jennings and Cardenia Carter Jennings.

She was a graduate and valedictorian for Falling Spring High School, Class of 1945.

During her working career, Sue was employed by Montgomery Ward, Leggett, owned a health food store, and was a broker/appraiser for her own real estate company, Alleghany Real Estate.

She was a charter member of Calvary Christian Church.

Mrs. Farmer is survived by a son, Chip Farmer and wife, Deborah of Covington; one grandson, Brandon Farmer, of Chesterfield; one brother, Meredith Jennings; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Warren officiating. Interment followed in Alleghany Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were James Jennings, Brandon Farmer, Daniel McCormick, Glenn Persinger, Wayne Caldwell and Clyde Selman.

The family received friends on Friday evening from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Loving Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Calvary Christian Church, 1329 S. Pond Avenue, Covington, VA 24426.
