Rockbridge County Native Was Lexington Pentecostal Church Member, VMI Retiree

Myrtle Virginia Rose Moore, 104, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015.

Born May 18, 1911, in Rockbridge County, she was a daughter of the late William Rose and Gertie Long Rose.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carl Moore; two sons, Dorse Thurman Moore and Walton D. Moore; two daughters, Helen Clark and Ruby Plogger.

Mrs. Moore was a member of the Lexington Pentecostal Church and retired from the laundry department at Virginia Military Institute after more than 25 years of service. Myrtle was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are one son, Carl Edward Moore and wife, Linda, of Buena Vista; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Carol Moore; two sons-in-law, Russell Clark and Emmett Plogger.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Hamilton and Dorsey Hostetter officiating. Burial will follow at New Monmouth Presbyterian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in loving memory of Myrtle to Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, VA 24450.

The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2015, at Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
