Former Corrections Officer Dies At Age 65

Paul Duwayne (Butch) Everett, Sr., 65, of 217 S. Royal Ave., Covington, Virginia, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at his home.

Mr. Everett was born September 8, 1949, in Arlington, a son of the late Raymond Faulkner and Marie Meadows Miotke.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Conner Everett, in 1990, and his step-father, Thomas Miotke.

He retired as a correctional officer from the Augusta Correctional Center in Craigsville.

Surviving are his son, Paul D. Everett, Jr. and his wife, Claudia, of Roanoke; two daughters, Hope Elkins and Kathleen Fisher and her husband, Jason, all of Richmond; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and his sister, Alice Allard and her husband, Gene, of Covington.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the graveside in Alleghany Memorial Park with the Rev. Sonny Wiseman officiating.

The family will receive friends for one hour before service time at Arritt Funeral Home.
