Joyce Velelia Taylor Gunther, 86, of Buena Vista, Virginia, died peacefully at her home on June 16, 2015.

Born August 30, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Earl L. Taylor and Lena P. Taylor.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herman W. Gunther; her brother, Leonard "Funny" Taylor, and a special aunt, Esther Tomlin.

Surviving are her daughters, Wanda K. Gunther and Veronica Kay Gunther Perez and husband, Amelin Perez; five grandchildren; Amelin A. Perez, Javin Perez, Pamela Perez, Jordan Perez, and Isabella Perez; one brother, Charles L. Taylor, cousin, Charlene H. Armstrong; aunt, Phyllis Taylor; and sister-in-law, Rachel Taylor.

Joyce Gunther had many important roles during her life; daughter, sister, wife, mother, LPN, Avon Lady, and caregiver.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 19, 2015 at Stone Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Russ Barb officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the Stone Church of the Brethren, Buena Vista, VA.
