Mattie Burch Bergener, 71, of Rockbridge Baths, Virginia, died Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Born on May 17, 1944, in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Charlie E. Burch and Annie Vest Lilly.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Harold Burch, Clinton Burch; and sisters, Margaret Seelke, and Glenna Burch.

Surviving are her husband, Earl W. Bergener; two sons, Rick Bergener and wife, Cathy, Jason Bergener and wife, Darlene; three grandchildren, Kenny McGowan, Amanda McGowan, and Julianna Bergener; one brother, H. L. Burch and wife, Bettie; sister, Gladys Hart and husband, Don, Betty Lou Bergener, and Barbara Glass.

A memorial service will be conducted 6 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Wyatt Mayes officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rockbridge Baths Fire Department in her name, 5024 Maury River Road, Rockbridge Baths, VA 24473.
