Obituary for Alton Ray Painter Alton Ray Painter
Iron Gate Native Dies In Yorktown

Alton Ray Painter, age 83, of 113 Battle Road, Yorktown, Virginia, and formerly of Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at York Convalescent Center in Yorktown.

He was born August 30, 1932 in Iron Gate, Virginia, to the late Jasper Newton and Susie Ballard Painter.

He was a custodian for the Virginia Horse Center and also worked for Singer Furniture Company as a car strapper.

He was of the Advent Christian Faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip Painter and Henry Painter.

He is survived by a sister, Lillian Painter Matthews of Clifton Forge and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Bill Hartsfield officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour prior to the service at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.

The Nicely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
