Obituary for Ralph Austin Moore, Sr. Ralph Austin Moore, Sr.
Broad Creek A.R.P. Church Member Was Korean War Veteran, Burlington Industries Retiree

Ralph Austin Moore, Sr., 86, of Lexington, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a long illness at home.

Born October 23, 1929, in Rockbridge County, he was a son of the late Gordon Leander Moore and Gladys Sorrells Moore.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Gordon L. Moore Jr., Kenneth Moore; one sister, Francis M. Ayers; and one special son-in-law, M. Henry Floyd.

Mr. Moore was a member of the Broad Creek A.R.P. Church, and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, receiving a Purple Heart.

Ralph worked at Burlington Industries for over thirty nine years, and retired to play golf, at which he was very good. He also loved to hunt.

Ralph leaves behind a loving wife of sixty one years, Dorothy "Dot" Sensabaugh Moore; a son, Ralph Jr. and wife, Robin, and their children, Taylore, Chase, Zane, and Addyson of Mineral; a son, Timothy Ayers of Lexington; one daughter, Jean "Jeanie" Moore Floyd of Lexington; a special granddaughter, Jennifer A. Floyd, also of Lexington who loved to sing to her Pa-Paw to brighten his days; also special nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2015, at the Harrison Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randolph Watts officiating. Burial will follow at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015.
