Jay Hugh Hipes Sr., 72, of Eagle Rock, Virginia, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2015.

He was preceded in death by parents, Charles Pierce and Mazie Parr Hipes.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Barbara Hipes; sons and daughters-in-law, Jay Jr. and Elizabeth Hipes of Eagle Rock; Mark and Peyton Hipes of Richmond; grandchildren, Jay, III "Trey", Charlotte, and Esther Hipes; sisters, Geraldine Roberts and Rosemary Simmons; and brother, Jack Hipes.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Longdale Baptist Church with the Rev. Chet Roden officiating. Interment will follow in church cemetery.
