Sara Francis Mason, age 81, of 2029 Lockwood Road, Charlottesville, Virginia, and formerly of 616 James River View, Iron Gate, died Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Rosewood Village at Hollymeade Town Center in Charlottesville.

She was born August 31, 1934 in Clifton Forge to the late James and Dora Haynes Francis.

She was a homemaker throughout her life and a member of the Clifton Forge Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Clarence Mason; a brother, Jimmy Francis; and a sister, Mary Sue Francis.

She is survived by a daughter, Kelly Kophazi and husband, David of Charlottesville; a son, Dale Mason of Blacksburg; two sisters, Seatta Wilhelm and husband, Eddie of Clifton Forge, and Dora Lee Martin of Garner, NC; a sister-in-law, Margaret Francis of Clifton Forge; two cousins, JoAnne Pursley Shriner of Charlottesville and Janet Moore Bryant of Biloxi, MS; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend J. Glenn Linthicum officiating. Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.
