Alleghany County Native Was Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church Member

Judith Fridley Breeden, 90, of Covington, Virginia, died Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at The Woodlands Health and Rehabilitation Center in Clifton Forge, VA.

She was the wife of the late Joseph Thomas Breeden, Sr.

Mrs. Breeden was born May 6, 1925 in Alleghany County, VA, a daughter of the late Charles William Fridley and Stella Margaret Shifter.

A lifetime resident of the community, she was employed as an office assistant for the League of Older Americans.

She was a member of Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Breeden is survived by six daughters, Maureen Jo Varner of Morris Hill, Deborah K. Hurt of Longdale Furnace, Marsha Ann Humphries of Rockhill, SC, Sharon Lynn Howard of Madoc, SC, Tina Jane Dover of Wahala, SC, and Lori Dawn Breeden of Rockhill, SC; one son, Joseph Thomas Breeden, Jr.; twelve grandchildren, Timothy Wayne Varner, Suzanne Renee Phillips, Jonathan Cash Varner, William L. Hurt, Jr., Robert Allen Hurt, Michael Humphries, Karrie Monteith, Jennifer Lynn Hollowell, Steven Funderburk, Aubrey Mae Breeden, and Crystal Breeden; nineteen great grandchildren, David, Tyler, Spencer, Mason, Peyton, Autumn, Dominic, Jordan, Kinsley, Alicia, Zachary, Emmie, Samantha, Kaitlyn, Morgan, Aaron, Sydney, Savannah and Kayelee; and two great great grandchildren, Emma Grace and Anthony.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Breeden was preceded in death by seven sisters and six brothers.

A funeral service was conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015, from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. James Rodden officiating.

The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to The Woodlands Activities Fund at The Woodlands Health and Rehabilitation Center, 1000 Fairview Ave, Clifton Forge, VA 24422 and also to the League of Older Americans, P. O. Box 725 Covington, VA 24426.
