Norma Ayres Staton, 67, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away Friday, December 25, 2015 at her residence.

Born July 11, 1948, in Buena Vista, she was a daughter of the late Harry Douglas Ayres and Cynthia Effie Ramsey Ayres.

Mrs. Staton loved to cook, spend time with her grandchildren, and was a wonderful homemaker.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Dean Gilliam; and brothers, Daniel and Douglas Ayres.

Surviving are her husband, Houston W. Staton Jr.; children, Cindy Hartbarger and husband, Dale, Sonny Staton and fiancee, Donna Brunty, Amy Gilliam and husband, Frankie, and Leigh Ann Forquer and husband, Jeremiah; grandchildren, Sara Roberts and husband, Corey, Brooke Coleman, Jonathan Hartbarger, Hunter Staton, Carey Gilliam, Erin Gilliam, Zachary Holzworth, and D. W. Holzworth; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Kaelyn and Karoline Roberts; sister, Wanda Bryant of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; brother, Ronnie Ayres and wife, Juanda of Selah, Wash.; sister, Dawn Burch and husband, Larry of Buena Vista; brother-in-law Roy D. Staton Sr. and wife, Phyllis; and numerous other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Dean Staton officiating.
