93 Year-Old Lexington Resident Dies

Frances Virginia Hartbarger Irvine of Lexington, Virginia, went to her eternal home March 1, 2016.

She was affectionately known as "Maw" to her children and "Nanny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a longtime resident of Lime Kiln Road in Lexington and a member of Lexington Baptist Church.

The daughter of John and Clara Hartbarger, Frances was born May 19, 1922, in Rockbridge County.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Paul Huger Irvine; brother, Claude Hartbarger; and great-grandson, John Paul Dishman.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Marlene (Don) Davis, Marvin (Diana) Irvine and Milton (Phyllis) Irvine; grandchildren, Cherie (Robert) Wray, Chris Davis (Sherry Roth), Kevin Irvine, Marci (Neil) Dishman, Holly (David) Hopkins, Shannon (Keith) Childress, Paul "Benjie" (Teresa) Irvine and Michelle (Adam) Tanoukhi; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson on the way.

Survivors also include her brother, A. R. Hartbarger; sister, Jean Lilley; sisters-in-law, Dessie Hartbarger and Lingle Hartbarger.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Carrington Place in Daleville, Va., for their compassionate care.

A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2016, at the Harrison Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. Burial will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.
