Obituary for Albert Glenn Hoke, Sr. Albert Glenn Hoke, Sr.
Retired VDOT Maintenance Worker Was Oak Hill Bible Church Member

Albert Glenn Hoke, Sr., 79 of 1133 Commercial Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia, gained his heavenly wings after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, March 8, 2016.

He was born September 24, 1936 in Covington, Virginia, a son of the late Clyde Earl Hoke and Gussie Evans Hoke.

Glenn was retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation as a Maintenance Helper with 30 years of service.

He attended Oak Hill Bible Church in Clifton Forge, he loved to mow grass, work on antique bikes and play with his furry friend "Josey". He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox and Denver Broncos.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara Clark Hoke of Clifton Forge; his daughter, Sharon Lynn Hoke, a son Albert "Bert" Glenn Hoke, Jr. and fiancee, Amanda Michelle Snead(Michelle), all of Clifton Forge; five step-children, Donnie Kimberlin and wife, Roberta, Karen Harmon and husband, Richard, Wayne Kimberlin and wife, Shirley, Daryl Kimberlin and companion, Dawn and Kathy Kimberlin Davis; a sister-in-law, Mary Hoke; a brother-in-law, Fred Clark and wife, Esther of Clifton Forge; ten grandchildren, Shonda, Wendy, Scottie, Kris, Jessica, Dusty, Haiden, Isaac, Cody and Kevin, and twelve great grandchildren. Also a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Eula Lee Brooks, Rembert Hoke, Emily Mays, Dorcus Clark and Betty Bush.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home with the Reverend Roger Bush and Reverend Virgil Woodie officiating. Interment will follow in the Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge, Va.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Matt Bowser, Jerry Snook, Troy Cottrell, Melvin Rose, Kristopher Anderson Kevin Downer, Timmy Kimberlin, Cody Downer and Tony Kimberlin. Honorary pallbearers will be Alvin Wright and Buck Loan.

The family suggesst that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Sentara Hospice 103 Old Church Street, Low Moor, Virginia 24457. The family would like to express its gratitude to his caregiver, Angel, and his three aides.
