Obituary for Max Leo Humphreys, Sr. Max Leo Humphreys, Sr.
For City Of Clifton Forge Animal Control Officer Dies At Age 59

Max Leo Humphreys, Sr., age 59, of 329 Roxbury Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Lewis Gale Medical Center, Salem.

He was born October 5, 1956 in Clifton Forge to the late Stonewall Jackson Humphreys, Jr. and Marian Byers Humphreys.

He was an animal control officer for the City of Clifton Forge and a member of the Clifton Forge Fire Department.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Emily Frances Humphreys and a daughter-in-law, Christie Humphreys.

He is survived by his wife, Polly Alls Humphreys of Clifton Forge; a daughter, April Humphreys of Iron Gate; two sons, Max L. Humphreys, Jr. and wife, Tonya of Covington, and Shawn Humphreys of Clifton Forge; a step daughter, Virginia Dunbar; a step son, Scottie Dunbar and wife, Michelle; three sisters, Tony Smith of Clifton Forge, Yvonne Rowan and husband, Duane of Salem, and Candy Humphreys of Virginia; a brother, Stony Humphreys of Vinton; fifteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Pastor Ed Gallimore officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

Pallbearers will be selected from friends and family attending the service. The family will receive friends on Friday morning from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at Nicely Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial donations be made to the family in Max's honor.
