Obituary for Glenn VanDevender, Jr. Glenn VanDevender, Jr.
Fork Lift Driver Was Covington Native

Glenn VanDevender, Jr., age 80, of 802 W. Ridgeway Street, Apt. 207, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Friday, March 25, 2016 at LewisGale Hospital- Alleghany in Low Moor.

He was born May 14, 1935 in Covington to the late Glenn VanDevender, Sr. and Natley Downey VanDevender.

Glenn was a retired fork lift driver for 7-Up bottling company, Royal Crown, Pepsi and also the Coke Cola company.

He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Covington.

Glenn was a people person - he loved visiting with his neighbors at Scott Hill and talking to people at WalMart.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Mae West VanDevender; two brothers Johnny Harvey "Tonnie" VanDevender, Donald L. VanDevender; and a sister, Ruby Orr.

He is survived by four sisters, Bessie Rucker Johnson, Lottie L. Wheeler, both of Eagle Rock; Dorothy Jeffries and her husband, Charles of Covington, and Betty Blankenship of Roanoke; a brother in law, Bob Orr of Pooler, Georgia; also a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Monday, March 28, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with the Reverend Edith Snedegar officiating.

Interment will follow in the Central Advent Christian Cemetery.

Glenn's nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.
