Obituary for Helen Louise Byrd Helen Louise Byrd
Self-Employed Housekeeper Was First Baptist Church Member

Helen Louise Byrd, age 88, of 805 Mound Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Sunday, April 24, 2016 at her residence.

She was born April 12, 1928 in Goochland, Virginia, to the late Luther Edward and Evelyn Bailey Wills.

She was a self-employed housekeeper, and a member of First Baptist Church in Clifton Forge, where she served as a Deaconess and choir member.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lakeisha Reena Byrd and two brothers, Earl Bailey and Fred Wills.

She is survived by her husband, Roy Byrd, Sr. of Clifton Forge; two daughters, Stephanie Ann Byrd Edwards and husband, Ricky of Covington, and Leala Byrd of Colorado Springs, CO; a son, Roy Edward Byrd, Jr. and wife, Monica of Clifton Forge; a foster son, Frankie Bowles of Pennsylvania; four sisters-in-law, Mary Waddy, Nora Jean Megginson and husband, Raymond, Francine Byrd, and Katherine Byrd; seven grandchildren, Salisha Smith, Trentie Meekins, Trentin Meekins, Moses Hunter III, Christie Hunter, Keith Hunter, and Chase Woodard; seven great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Dreama Woodard and Tyrone Houston.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Clifton Forge, with Reverend Roslyn Thomas officiating.

Interment will follow in Red Hill Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at First Baptist Church.
