Obituary for Bonnie Jean Barger Mayo Bonnie Jean Barger Mayo
Homemaker Was Former Botetourt County Supervisor

Bonnie Jean Barger Mayo, age 74, of 7888 Botetourt Road, Fincastle, Virginia, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at her residence.

She was born October 2, 1941 in Roanoke, Virginia, to the late E. W. "Huiet" and Lois Frances Barger.

She was a homemaker, a former member of the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors, and worked for the Roanoke-Hollins Stock Yard.

She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, serving there as a missionary builder, and was the camp secretary and cook for the Springs of Life Bible Camp.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Kay Barger.

She is survived by her husband, Kenny Mayo of Fincastle; a daughter, Tamera Elaine Gish and husband, Daniel of Hardy; two sons, Timothy Eugene Mayo of Roanoke, and Steven Andrew Mayo and wife, Cara of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Pat Harrelson and husband, Rick of Marietta, GA; nine grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and her special friends at Immanuel Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Immanuel Baptist Church, Clifton Forge, with Pastor John Godfrey, Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow in Forest Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Eagle Rock.

Active pallbearers will be Kevin Day, Dave White, Terry Basham, Jim Fix, Gary Johnson, Brandon Nicely, Doug Donivan, and Jason Brodsky. Honorary pallbearers will be Marion Nicely, Eddie Vaughn, John Barger, Ranny Mason, Jim Hicks and Don Wilson.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, and other times at the residence. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Carilion Clinic Hospice, 1615 Franklin Road, Roanoke, VA 24016.
